Serious WW2 Veterans

I haven't met any ww2 veterans in my lifetime and I don't plan to

I have a relative that was a cook or something (He made chicken broth) but he and his platoon got fucked by the germans so he couldn't make soup no more😭🙏
Then there's my other super based SS officer that went to the Eastern Front and went missing there (though he was probably shot by Soviets and nobody found his remains).
Npc ahh veterans bruh☠

It is very likely that nearly all World War II veterans will pass away within this decade (by the 2030s).
Have you met any veterans, is there any veterans in your family? All my relatives died in the war, I've only ever met my post-war grandparents by my fathers side (1950s-60s)
did they fight for the USSR?

Swedes were smart and stayed neutral during the great european chimpouts. My finnish great grandpa defended his country from russian aggression at leningrad doe. Never met my great grandpa sadly.

A brother of my grandfather served as a paratrooper in France in one of the highest-casualty divisions of the invasion. He never spoke about it and died rather before I was born or while I was an infant, I'm pretty sure.

I’ve seen a lot of them out and about with those stupid big hats that say what war they fought in. Mostly in wheelchairs if I can recall.
