I'm currently sat at my part-time job, as tedious as it is trivial. It is now lunch, leaving me scarfing down a sweet red apple while clattering at a chiclet keyboard typing this out. I'm sat at my desk despite the time as I have no interest in discussion with the others, I prefer it this way. I have no interest in Football nor Rugby and by extension the majority discussion being had, the lack of interest has been persistent since my initial comprehension as a kid. A family member wants me to aid in printing documents after work at the local library, but other then that I have absolutely zilch planned which is far from unusual for me. I might play a Windows-exclusive game when I get home as I recently set-up a Windows 10 partition on my desktop. I gutted the install to be as measly in programs and connectivity to Microsoft servers as possible, even deleting Defender in the process. Lunch will end in a few short minutes as I'm writing this, shame.

I forgot to turn off automatic updates and got one-shotted by the Microsoft Copilot demon

You did use LTSC right, saar? It's not completely flawless from the factory but there's a lot less shit to strip out, especially MS store/gamebar. Saved me a hell of a lot of time last night.

Of-course, I used primarily use IoT Enterprise LTSC on my desktop before moving to Linux so I'm well aware of it's existence. Thanks for the heads up regardless.

Work is within arms reach so I packed up my Thinkpad when the clock hit four and walked home. I grabbed some loose change the second I entered through the door and bolted to the corner-shop and back to buy myself White Monster, it's the only energy-slop I can physically stomach. My mam informed me that the aforementioned family member didn't need my help after-all, so all is well.

A third of the way done with Freedom Planet. I've only beaten Carols story thus-far so take this with a pinch of salt. The game feels stellar to play, close enough to Sonic to feel sharp and fast but far enough to form its own identity. You never feel out of control and the early levels go hand in hand with this as there's constant opportunity to play as you see fit, not too dissimilar to the Sonic formula of three layers per level all giving varying constant challenges, but now with the addition of combat. The given combat tools were great, being able to roll into enemies, jump, hack and slash at them in one diagonal motion and dart off, speed in-tact was amazing and the bosses really went well with the tools at hand as you never felt completely unmatched, except the final boss but that's par of the course. Despite my praise the last four levels had a very and I mean very noticeable spike in difficulty, where the previous rewarded learning and mastering all the aspects of the game, these were just damage-sponge levels where enemies were spammed and you had to deal with un-dodgeable nonsense, now this increase is explained in-game through the story but I don't think that's an apt excuse. Despite the bosses were solid throughout, noticeable and fair patterns to figure out and work around while still giving enough difficulty to keep me on my toes, really fun stuff, especially when your team plays a part in it. The music was good if a tad forgettable and the story was good if a tad-rushed, it is what it is. Over-all the third played is a solid 8/10, if you like platformers, pick this up.

Long-day. Spent the afternoon configuring my still-fresh FreeBSD install, getting linux-steam-utils running flawless. Decided to test it out by playing Freedom Planet as I planned on doing so today anyways and it ran perfect, no complaints. Speaking of Freedom Planet, my opinions have changed a tad in regards to the levels while playing as Milla, you really appreciate them much more when you don't play them like Sonic levels. In Sonic despite the structures and the rhythm upon mastering, holding right and letting yourself get sloppy is always an option but in Freedom Planet that couldn't be further from the truth. Depending on the difficulty, the game really does make you focus consistently, choosing your jumps and picking your paths, all in thanks to the health-system and enemy placement. I look forward to beating this on BSD.

Done and dusted. To start with what's fresh on my mind, Lilac had the weakest move-set out of the entire cast as it leaned far too heavily into the Sonic inspiration. Her speed and wider selection of combat-tools made many enemy and boss encounters far too easy to tackle and avoid which enabled sloppy play, unlike the others who forced you to work with their quirks and movesets. Speaking of the others, Milla was my favorite in all aspects, the Phantom blocks were really unique, imagine if Klonoa could throw enemies diagonally for both combat and momentum, and imagine if the enemy doubled as a reflective shield for projectiles aswell, really cool mechanic that was perfectly balanced with a simple charge-up. Her digging was very under-used as it was only used in four times in my playthrough, but other then that? Zero complaints. I had a lot of fun and I can't stress this enough, consider picking this one up if you like 2D platformers, you won't be dissapointed.

Went for a stroll to a local trail as it's pretty empty year-round. School tomorrow so I'm far from ecstatic, it is what it is.

Good thing you quoted the post because I completely forgot to mention that I did buy the game after. I bought the World Machine Edition as it apparently works without issue through Wine-Proton. The original game running through Wine requires you to prod and pick at the game files during certain segments, unlike the Windows version which apparently changes your wallpaper and does similar on the fly. I'll get around to playing it eventually as I highly doubt your constant praise of the game is over nothing.
