I found a IP near me through Iknowwhatyoudownload that had torrented 'p. I reported it to the NCMEC and then a few months later a news story in my local area saying that an IP was reported to the NCMEC which was then forwarded to the authorities led to the arrest of some n00b.

Why don't the feds just have a guy use that site all day if it's that easy to find IPs that have downloaded child porn?

Then why did they acknowledge the report and arrest the guy in the first place? No doubt the feds themselves do shady crap regarding CSAM by (if I recall correctly) operating honeypots that facilitate child sexual abuse so that they can catch pedophiles, but I really doubt it has to take a report from a civilian to make an arrest if this violation of the law is public information.
