Pipes are cool but can be snatched alot easier imo, saucepans are harder to grab apart from the handle. Also what kinda pipes we on ab? If its a pvc pipe it wont do shit but if its hella heavy its just unwieldy

You wouldn't make a black powder pirate gun out of pvc pipe, obviously a rolled steel pipe.
And you can swing it so much faster than a frying pan meaning you can more good hits in faster, and it's harder to dodge than a skillet.

Nitrocellulose isn't that hard to make and cut into proper powder flakes
Though black powder is more accessable in low tech situations
