I thought this was cool. Crazy how a machine can do it so effectively and efficiently at the same time.
 
Here's a silly Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fan theory video from 2010 proposing that the character Gaz didn't actually die at the end of the game because if you no-clip to look closely at the animation of him getting killed, the gun that executes him is not entirely lined up with his head.

ignoring how silly it is, im pretty sure even a moderately powerful handgun (say 9mm) round fired at point blank would cause enough internal trauma to kill him despite the vest if he didn't receive immediate medical attention. but idk im probably overthinking this

Yeah, he uses a Beretta M9 in that cutscene. Funnily enough, even if he turned out to be the character ("Ghost") that the video says he is in the second game, that other character still dies at the end from a .44 Magnum shot to the chest followed by a burning of his corpse, and there were still fan theories about how he didn't die, too.
