That's what I've heard about that Oblivion remaster. It looks hyper realistic but still obviously fake, it's uncanny. I like games that look like 90s tech demos.

Not really, I actually have been seeing more praise for low poly/ low graphics stuff recently, I guess people are getting sick of this nasty looking hyper-realism that has been plaguing vidya for a while now.

i cant stand old graphics, i can play anythimg as long as it doesnt have clunky animations or low quality sounds doe, but 99% of old games have those

Its okay if it comes with the time period. There are games on steam now that add in CRT filters and scan lines to try and push a nostalgia button. There are ones that lower the polygon count or distort the audio too and its all NAS coal.

It doesn't look better so its worse, simulation games are supposed to be simulations of real life so better graphics almost always = better game.

theory: new graphics are noisy& difficult on eyes, so gameplay is dumbed down to suit and we're left with a glorified walking sim
holy shit this might be why games today are so dumb and shallow
not that i played them
i dont understand why my peers enjoy games with modern graphics
2d games and early 3d are good if not even better

Love it or hate it from what i understand the Oblivion remaster is one of the more compotent software releases in recent years
Though thwy definitely get it easy that their excise for leaving certain bugs in is that it's true to the original
Preformance is still predictably shitty due to it being based off of UE5 which is just a shit engine
