As you leave behind the drone defenders and the frontal IADS which keep your airpower from providing effective, overheaad, CAS/OBAS presence against them.

The only reason the Russians have not gone over to a multi-thrustline offense is that they are happy to butcher the Ukrainian elite nationalist units like Azov and 47th Mech/Motorized under the assumption that they are 'killing Nazis' whose loss will cripple the resumptionof Ukrainian nationalism, post-war.
